Annual Report 2008
This is my entry to Dan Meyer's contest My Annual Report II.
With Sarah, our first child, born last year – her arrival and impact on our lives defines 2008. These 4 slides show just some of what's been happening so far.

All the slides were created in Adobe Fireworks CS3. I started using Macromedia Fireworks many years ago when it came in a pack with Dreamweaver and Flash. Moving to a Mac last year, I also moved to Adobe Fireworks CS3. Fireworks is my Photoshop and Illustrator all in one. It may not be as powerful, but it's what I know.
My Flickr account had been dormant for some time. The arrival of Sarah changed that. Flickr has been an excellent way to share lots of photos with family and friends - and the uploads to Flickr are only a fraction of the total photos taken so far.
Looking back at early photos of Sarah and looking at her now, I realised just how quickly she was growing - this prompted me to grab her “blue book”, a Government supplied health record, take the stats and show the change.
On this slide, it was nice how the scales were able to align.
Despite the data, “well and happy girl”, a quote from a nurse, is the most important part of this slide.
What's a newborn without nappies? Tracking sleeping, feeding and pooping in a book just seemed uninteresting. Trixie Tracker takes that same data and makes some great visuals to help your understand your babies patterns. We stopped using Trixie Tracker after a month, because we'd got the hang of Sarah's routine as it continually changed. So, the stats in this slide are based on her first month, but are a good approximation for the rest of the year. The nappy (ok, diaper for the US) icon is from Mac Baby Icons by Etherbrian.
Happy or unhappy, Sarah likes to squeal... and it's loud. This audio from a video I took of the squeal was put into Fission.
